This is the first step of the journey on the Mythic Fiber Trail. Here, we begin with our first handful of fiber, sticky with lanolin and soil, filled with seeds and possibilities. Standing at the river’s edge, we meet the four elements—Earth, Air, Water, and Fire—the allies we need to transform raw material into clean, combed, and carded wool ready for spinning and felting. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)

The Felted Vessel
(Wet Felting)

May 16th, 2026

Our journey continues along the river, with prepared fiber in our baskets. Now we need a vessel—a bowl or hollow filled with stories, a place to hold our tools. Using only the river and washing stone, we transform soft, clean wool into a sturdy felted vessel with water, pressure, and the stories we carry. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)

The Color of Plants
(Natural Dying)

July 11th, 2026

With vessel and basket in hand, we continue along the river to a meadow of wildflowers. Here we meet the plant teachers who give us the gift of color. Using cauldron, stick, and fire, we explore the alchemy of plants to create a rainbow of colored wool. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)

Spinning the Spindle
(Drop Spindling)

August 8th, 2026

The trail now leads away from the river toward the Circle of Grandmothers. Pulling the spindle from our belt and wool from our pouch, we begin the rhythmic steps of spindle spinning: knot, twist, draft, over one, under two… down the path we go to the Circle of Grandmothers. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)

September 12th, 2026

We arrive at the Circle of Grandmothers…12 ancient teachers and the spinning wheels they ride. Here, your feet learn to treadle and your hands to fly as you transform clouds of wool into strands of yarn. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)

Setting the Twist
(Plying & Yarn)

October 24th, 2026

With a bobbin in each hand, the process continues as we ply two into one, set the twist with help from the river and washing stone, and work the skeining circle with Knitty Knotty as our guide. Past, present, and future come together as we spin, measure, and cut the fate of the yarn. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)

The Medicine Bag
(Crochet)

November 14th, 2026

We gather around the hearth with our basket of yarn at our feet. Here, we bind our blessings and prayers into a medicine bag. The tying of knots and the speaking of blessings become the rhythm of our work, creating form from chaos. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)

Weaving with the Woods (Tapestry Weaving)

December 12th, 2026

This is the final step of our journey, stepping into the Weaver’s Hall. Here, we meet the loom, guided by the grandmothers, animals, and plants who have been our teachers. We create a tapestry of earth, sea, and sky, meeting the Creatrix and the Psychopomp—the ancient ones whose hands reach through the veil of warp and weft, standing at the beginning and the end. (Please note that you must be at least 15 years of age or older to attend any of the classes in this workshop.)
